MetaPerf

A tool for parametrical analysis of network performance

MetaPerf is a tool for conducting parametrical analysis of the network performance. MetaPerf functions as a wrapper to existing network performance tools, such as iperf, and data transfer tools, such as GridFTP. MetaPerf provides features like automated parameter sweeps between multiple pairs of nodes and graphical output to display network performance in terms of bandwidth/throughput and number of dropped packets for various network protocols like TCP and UDP. This output allows for the network user/admin to reach conclusions regarding the effects that each individual parameter as well as combinations of certain parameters have on network performance.

The MetaPerf tool was used to optimize the TCP performance between BNL, Seattle and KISTI. The complete report can be viewed at the following link https://www.racf.bnl.gov/metaperf/Report.pdf/view
