Dell and Arista Networks will give a presentation on a roadmap to 10 Gb connectivity and beyond on Wednesday, March 2 from 2-4 pm in 2-160. Below is an abstract of their presentation. I specifically asked the presenters to emphasize a discussion of current and upcoming technologies and the respective price points today and in the near to medium-term. Please forward this message to other interested staff whom I may have missed.

Communications links, or interconnects, are the biggest bottleneck in networks and computers. Dell has been a market leader in driving 10Gb/s Ethernet to the masses, helping to ensure performance and throughput, delivering value-added capabilities on top of 10GbE to enable a broad based adoption. Applications can achieve a 10x improvement in performance, a significant improvement application and services throughput and experience, and simplification of managing aggregated links (LAGs). Ultimately the availability of low cost, wire-speed 10GbE connections, virtualization technology, coupled with switching technique which is loop-free, lossless and fast converging, will transform next generation data center design.

Arista Networks will be presenting Arista's current 10G network solutions with an NDA preview of Arista Network's 40G/100G plans as the solutions pertain to the scientific community.
