Inside the Rose Center rests the new Hayden Planetarium; the Cullman Hall of the Universe; and the Gottesman Hall of Planet Earth. The inaugural Space Show, “Passport to the Universe” offers viewers a 3-D tour of the universe, where they will seem to "fly" through a scientifically accurate virtual recreation of our galaxy and beyond. Participants will be able to view this show, as well as any of the other Museum exhibits, including the world famous Dinosaur Halls, the Hall of African Mammals, and the critically acclaimed Hall of Biodiversity. The Museum closes at 5:45PM. Participants will then have several hours to eat in one of the many restaurants in the neighborhood between the Museum and Lincoln Center. There are a large variety of cuisines at all price scales. A guide to the area will be available. Participants will then return to the Museum to board buses back to campus and the hotels. Buses will leave as they are filled, with the last bus departing the Museum at 9PM. Participants wishing to go on the tour must request tickets at regsitration. đ Companions Program: Our companion program was not sufficiently subscribed to undertake the tour programs originally announced. The only tour which has not been cancelled is the Wednesday January 17, “Phantom of the Opera” on Broadway in New York City. Tickets for this show are being offered now to the public. We will arrange small excursions to some of the areas of interest on Long Island for small groups. These excursions will be arranged during the conference. The Companion Program will maintain a desk at the Wyndham Hotel for tour reservation and area information. On Sunday only, we will have an information desk at the Javits Center that will be open during registration and the Welcome Reception. We will meet on Monday in the Wyndham Lobby at 9:30 to discuss plans. Times for trips will then be posted at the Wyndham desk. The weather can be cold, between 20-32 degrees Fahrenheit so bring warm clothing, hats and gloves so you can fully enjoy what our beautiful Long Island has to offer. => Local Transport: The shuttle bus schedule from hotels and dormitories can be found below.
